Age restrictions for shows

You will sometimes find that there are age restrictions for certain shows. These restrictions are put in place for the safety of younger eventgoers and to ensure that the venue hosting an event is abiding by the relevant laws and regulations set in place by the relevant governing bodies.

Why are there age restrictions on some shows?

Not every show is appropriate for every person. While Gighabit is an inclusive service providing tickets for anybody and everybody, we must abide by the rules set out to us by our event partners. The organiser of the event will state during the event creation process whether there are no age restrictions, over 18s only, or over 16s only. It is entirely up to the event organisers and their partners to decide what ages are appropriate for their show. Gighabit has no say in the matter and will not contact the organiser or argue on your behalf. The responsibility is on the ticket buyer to ensure that they, or the recipients of the tickets, are of age before the point of purchase.

What happens if someone underage tries to enter an event?

While Gighabit does not always provide door staff, occasionally we do, however, regardless of who is responsible for checking IDs at the door there will be staff checking IDs. It is an offense to try and enter an event with someone else’s ID, with a fake ID, or with an underage ID. Not only will you not be allowed to enter the event there may be further repercussions. Including, but not limited to, the closure of your Gighabit account, being permanently banned from attending shows by that organiser or at that venue, or even the involvement of law enforcement.

What happens if I buy tickets for a show and realise I, or a member of my party, is not old enough to attend?

The responsibility is on you to ensure that every member of your party is able to attend the show. Gighabit does not offer partial refunds at this time. Beyond that, it is up to the event organiser whether or not they would accept your refund request. As of now, there is no precedent for someone to refund their ticket if they purchased it without checking they are old enough to attend.
